A Scarf A Day: Day 5

We've come to the end of the scarf series. The last one in my collection is a pattern called Adam's Rib. This was an impulse buy when I was at the Sow's Ear in Verona. It's such a fun and quick pattern and it came free when I purchased the yarn, which is nice and soft.

Now it's time to return back to flip-flops weather. I'm cool with that. =)

A Scarf A Day: Day 4

This scarf is like candy to me. The colors are delicious and it's so warm and comfy. Plus, since it's cotton, it breathes nicely, so I can wear it around work when I'm too lazy to put together a creative outfit. (Translation: It gets a lot of wear!)

A Scarf (and hat!) A Day Series: Day 3

Today I'm throwing in the bonus hat. I made this set after tearing apart a vest I knit, wore once, and realized I didn't like. This set (which also includes mittens that look very worn after a long winter) was used way more than that stupid vest ever would've beem; so a good repurpose. I really like how the yarn changes from light to dark.

A Scarf A Day Series: Day 2

I love this scarf, even though the fibers tickle my chin sometimes. This one was knit with two different yarns held together. I didn't even know that was something you could do, but I'm glad I learned!

Lazy Posts: A Scarf A Day

Because I'm up to my ears in boxes and moving materials, updating my blog is going to be a little tricky in the coming days. So, to still keep things on track (and a sliver of my sanity), I'm going for some lazy posts. While I was packing, I came across a number of scarves I've knit in the past year and a half and decided to photograph each of them. So for the next few days, I'll be featuring these pics in my Scarf a Day series. Ideally, I would've saved these for the fall, but desperate times and all that jazz.

I knit this soon after learning how to knit cables. I used Cascade yarn in a variegated gray and white color.

Word Up, Wordle!

Jessica just clued me in on a cool site called Wordle.net. Here's what the site says about itself:

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.

So I typed in my blog address, and here's what came back. Pretty snazzy.

My First Quilt...Done!

OK. So my first quilt has been done for weeks, but for some reason I just couldn't muster up the energy to photograph it. (Reminder: it is gi-normous!)....until this week, that is. Here it is. No more waiting.

This quilt will actually go on a different bed, in a different room in a different home. I just wanted to lay it out.

Vintage Find

Therese found and shared a cool vintage clothing blog with me. It's called Liebemarlene Vintage Look Book. This blogger also has a shop. I think I'd like to order just about one of everything. Hmm, now to figure out how to swing that?

And Another Sweater

Here's the other baby sweater I knit in my OCD frenzy. I'm selling this one on Etsy also, and I'm also entering it in Etsy's Handmade Kids Challenge and Sweepstakes. There are seven different categories that can be entered, and clothing is one of them. I might make something else for the other categories, but we'll see. I need to get creative. If I get picked as a finalist, I'll need your help with votes! Winners get money to spend on Etsy. Sweet!

Get Busy Knittin', Or Get Busy Dying . . .

Now that I think about it, this post title would be much funnier if it was about knitting and dying my hair, or dying yarn, or dying clothing. But it's not. It's just about knitting. And knitting to the most obsessive degree. Despite not having my home packed up yet (and we need to be out by August 15), I've knit another baby sweater for my Etsy shop, and have another one still to photograph and post. So that makes three baby sweaters in less than three weeks. I have a problem with not using up all my yarn at once. I'm not the type of person to buy yarn just because it's pretty (although it takes a lot of self control). I try to plan my projects out accordingly and then I go gang busters until it's done. OCD, anyone? Yeah, that's me. Without further adieu, my new Etsy addition:

A Visit to the Daisy Cottage

The Daisy Cottage is a blog I found on Internet travels. It came just as I needed a beautiful and tranquil respite to rest my weary eyes. I think I'd like to vacation here, even though it's really someone's home. Lucky dog!

A New Baby Sweater

(Mandy C.....really avert your eyes this time.)

Have I mentioned that I am self-diagnosed craft OCD? Well if not, I am now. So the baby sweater I made last week was feeling too boyish to be a gender neutral sweater, so I decided to put that one in my Etsy shop and start a new one. Below is the baby owl sweater that Mandy's baby-to-be will get to wear. I'm so much happier with this one being the gift than the other one. I really like the other one, but I'd feel like it was a waste if she had a girl.

Who Knew the Laundromat Could Be So Beautiful?

Here's what I love about having a blog: it's a nice little place to keep everything I love to look at. I came across Jennifer Anderson Photography while again on the Portabellapixie site. The pictures this woman takes are complete eye candy for me! The colors are so vibrant, and the models are so candid. Simply lovely! Makes me want to learn how to take good pictures (for now, I'd settle on not cutting people's heads off).

This set of photos are of her daughter at the laundromat. Jennifer Anderson found a way to make me want to go back to the laundromat. It looks so beautiful there. (Or maybe she just lives near beautiful laundromats. Hmm?)

Plates that Please My Humor Palette

Saw these creative plates in Shop SCAD, and they made me giggle. They're designed by Steph Calvert. I think the Milk plate is my favorite! Enjoy!
