My Chronicle Iron-Ons!

Back in May, I won free iron-ons from Mike Perry's Chronicle Book Iron Me On. I received them a few weeks ago, but I didn't have anything to put them on. However, a quick trip to Goodwill solved that.

Here are the iron-ons I got. I received multiple copies of each, and then shared a copy of each with Jessica.

I bought a plain pink t-shirt for $3.

I cut out my iron-on piece. I thought this would be more like the 80's iron-ons I remember from when I was kid. You, know, the kind that could be picked and peeled off after a few washes. But instead, this was more of an ink transfer. It required a very hot iron, but worked really well.

I put the transfer on the bottom in case it didn't work out. I figured I could cut the bottom of the shirt off and try the transfer again somewhere else.

...But that won't be necessary. It turned out great. (Despite what my pics may show). It says "We are what we do." True.

Now I need more ideas on what else to iron these onto!

Dear Santa, I'd Like This T-Shirt

I *heart* Boston Terriers (bulldogs are #1...but flat face pups in general are tops with me). And I love knitting...no news there. So Ravelry designed a t-shirt just for me...well, you'd think so. So I'm asking Santa for this in a size medium. The sad truth is that Santa doesn't come anymore...actually all gift exchanges are really just for the nieces and nephews now...still, a girl can dream and believe! =)

Up-cycled Sheets

When I first started buying materials for my quilt (which is now finished, but I have to take photos still), I bought a king-size jersey sheet made by the Company Store at St. Vinny's to possibly use as a backing. It turned out to be too small, but I didn't want it to go to waste. So I put my creative mind to task and figured out a way to make it into clothing. Voila...I give you the sheet shirt:

(Can I just say that all clothing should be made out of super comfy cotton sheets...it's like being in bed all day!)

The sheets as pictured on The Company Store site. My shirt was made from the pale yellow ones (to which my husband and brother would respond: "Thank you, Captain Obvious.")

I didn't use a pattern, but just kind of figured out how all the pieces would go together. It took me two tries. The first one would've been fine...until I sewed my two pieces so that one half was inside out--and it was too many stitches to rip out. On my second try, it was smooth sailing. I used the hem on the sheet so that I didn't have to hem the shirt myself. Not to pat myself on the back, but that was WAY smart! I hate hemming (maybe because I don't quite know the right way to do it). Overall, I'm pleased as punch with my new crafty creation. And it's the first piece of clothing I've sewn that I'm actually not afraid of falling apart...thank you again, Singer Curvy sewing machine!!!
