New Photo Turns Vintage

I love current photos that have been given a vintage makeover. I've seen a few on my Web travels and in various Etsy shops such as: honeytree's and kristybee's. I figured it's mostly Photoshop work, but I had no clue where to begin. With a quick Google search, I found these instructions. In the eight not-too-complicated steps, I was able to turn my nephew's fish catching picture (as taken by my brother):

into this:

Not perfect, but pretty cool. I can't wait to try some other filters and colors.

Bloomers!

The world is a mess right now, but that doesn't mean there aren't things out there to smile about. You have to remember to stop and smell the flowers. =)

More Feet

Since you were all kind enough to share your feet with me, I wanted to share mine with you. This is of me and my nephew at the park. I was climbing on this big dinosaur and he was standing underneath. We were celebrating his 5th birthday.

And here's a mosaic of most of the entries I received. Now you can tell me who you would've picked (it's not as easy as you'd think!).

Fall Scarflette Giveaway Contest

I'm happy to announce my first ever Ruffled Feathers contest! Yay!

With the fall season fast approaching (or already here, depending on where you live), I wanted to do something to celebrate this amazing time of year. Like many people, I'm always inspired by the changing colors of the leaves and the crisp cool breezes. And the only way to go out in the chillier weather to play in those leaves is with a new scarf in the season's colors.

So now's your chance to add a fall touch to your wardrobe with a new scarflette. What is a scarflette, you ask? It's simply a shorter scarf. All of mine have buttons so that they can be worn with coats to keep your neck warm, or paired up with your indoor wear for those who run a little cold.

I made three scarflettes for three separate people to win. (In the coming days you can check back on the site for close ups of each.)

But let's get to the heart of the matter...how do you win these beautiful wares? Well, I'm glad you asked. I mentioned in a post a while ago (I would link to it if I knew where it was), that I've been loving pictures people take of their feet standing in different places with different shoes, or even just barefoot. Some are of pretty shoes in grass. Others are of flip flops in sand. Some are just bare feet on cement. Here are some examples:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take a picture of your feet (with or without others), and upload it to Flickr. Then, add a comment to this post with a link to the Flickr pic by end of day Sunday, September 28. I will choose three winners from the entries either by how great the picture is, or if I can't decide, by drawing random winners. Winners will be announced on this blog sometime next week (hopefully Monday or Tuesday).

What are you waiting for? Go grab some great shoes or use this as an excuse to treat yourself to a pedi! Good luck to everyone!

Bulldog Love: To Bettie

When Shane and I were housebound, one of the biggest things we were looking forward to was getting a bulldog, aka Bettie (yes, I already had her named). Now that we're temporarily renting, Bettie will have to wait a little longer until she can come "home." I miss Bettie (yes, despite never meeting here). So this blog entry is dedicated to her...wherever she may be. (Photos all came from AllPosters.com.)

More Izzy!

I just can't get enough of Jennifer Anderson's photography. (I know I featured her before.). Her model Izzy just cracks me up. Here are a few from her recent shoot. So dang cute!

A New Beautiful Blog to Peruse

Ooh...take a look at Yummy Goods, a new beautiful blog I stumbled upon. The pictures she posts are gorgeous. And the bonus is that the blog author, Melissa Averinos, is also a fabric designer, which means more choices for me once I get settled in and can start sewing again. Ah...can't wait!

This one is for Therese who longs for a St. Francis in her garden.

I've been more and more drawn to photos looking down at feet lately. I've seen a lot that I love. Maybe I need a whole separate post just for those.

Who Knew the Laundromat Could Be So Beautiful?

Here's what I love about having a blog: it's a nice little place to keep everything I love to look at. I came across Jennifer Anderson Photography while again on the Portabellapixie site. The pictures this woman takes are complete eye candy for me! The colors are so vibrant, and the models are so candid. Simply lovely! Makes me want to learn how to take good pictures (for now, I'd settle on not cutting people's heads off).

This set of photos are of her daughter at the laundromat. Jennifer Anderson found a way to make me want to go back to the laundromat. It looks so beautiful there. (Or maybe she just lives near beautiful laundromats. Hmm?)
