My 300th Post!

Yahoo! I made it to my 300th post...and just in time for the Sew, Mama, Sew May Giveaway Day! I think this calls for some sort of celebration. Hmm...I've been so busy knitting the shawl, that I wasn't able to make something in time for the big day. But, I want to commemorate the event. So let's do a giveaway...a surprise giveaway (it'll be surprise for all of us!). Maybe it will be craft supplies, a book, something I make, a gift card, or who knows...the options are endless! Just know that it will be crafty related, it'll be fun, and it'll make you smile. With that said, let's get this party started. See below on how to play:

(Those are actually soaps! Find more like them by searching on Etsy...these sold after I posted them on my blog. ETA: To clear up some confustion, I didn't make these, although I wish I had since so many people love them!)

  1. Leave a comment (and your email address) with a creative idea for what I could include in the giveaway. Deadline has been extended to end of day May 31. (1 entry)
  2. Blog about this contest and leave me a link with where to find the entry. (2 entries)
  3. Twitter about my contest and leave me a link. (2 entries)
  4. Show me a craft you've made in the past month that makes you happy by leaving me a link to a picture on your blog or Flickr page. (5 entries)
Winners will be picked at random, and I'll post the winners on Monday. Good luck!

I think something sewn (like a quilty funky project bag) would be the bees' knees. :) Here's a scarf I just finished for a retiring coworker. I give it to her tomorrow at her send-off dinner. I hope she likes it as much as I do!

I love to win things! Anything, really. Being a quilter and a knitter, fabric or yarn would be lovely.

I'm running a similar contest on my blog, and I told them there about yours: http://tryingmydarnedest.blogspot.com/2009/05/ruffled-feathers-my-300th-post.html

I haven't yet posted the first prototype for the "perfect" knitting bag, but you can see some of my recent bag projects on my blog: http://tryingmydarnedest.blogspot.com/2009/05/some-of-my-bags.html

Is this open to family? In my competitive nature, I am in!

First of, congratulations Carrie! I read all of your posts. It's good to write about something your passionate about. Just reading your blog makes me update my own.

On that note, here is a link back to my blog for you 300! It is on Facebook too!
http://razorsride.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-sister-is-hitting-300.html

For prizes, I am thinking you sew a pillow with the cover of the movie 300! If not the movie, then go with a bowling theme with the perfect score 300.

That's about as creative as I get. You got that gene.

Congrats!

congrats on 300 posts! i am way behind you! bad blogger here!

anyway, here is a sock that made me happy! loved the beads, cables, lace, yarn, and the color.

i will blog about your contest as soon as i leave this comment.

http://bellybuttonknits.blogspot.com/2009/05/e-is-for.html

and as far as prizes, i definitely think it should be some gorgeous sock yarn or lace yarn! yep, that's what i think.

Congratulations on #300. If most people are like me, they won't care what crafty item you include. Even if it's "old" to you, it's new to someone else :).

I have a couple of items I've made in the last month. One is my first felted bag (http://nulandnews.blogspot.com/2009/05/bags-o-plenty.html); ignore the fun fur bag - that one almost makes me un-happy.
Even more is the thread "purse" and tiny bear (http://nulandnews.blogspot.com/2009/04/mint-delight.html), but I wasn't sure if that counted because it's just on the edge of being over one month old.

MarieAnge said...

First of all, congratulations on your 300th post! :)

It's always nice to read about something someone is passionate about.

As for something I've made in the past month that I'm happy about; I'd have to say publishing my very first pattern, free but still :) It's for a cell phone cozy and the link is http://gambitsview.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-very-first-design.html

And for prize suggestions... bright colorful yarn, bamboo circular needles or crochet hooks, one of those cute yarn cutting gizmos that you can hang around your neck, sheep and angora goat toys :)

I totally thought those cupcakes were real. I got a hankering for something sweet now! But they are super cute soaps!
I saw that you didn't make these, but do you make soaps? I really haven't seen anything like that in giveaways, and homemade soap is always a special treat.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Something I recently made that made me happy: http://nnnnessa.blogspot.com/2009/05/gerard-giraffe.html

I made it for my sister. My family was so impressed with his construction...it was a great reassurance on my crochet techniques.

Have a great weeeknd!

happy blogaversary -

this is something I made that makes me super happy:

I drew the bird and cut it out in vinyl as a sticker. 8 of them are going in the mail next week to some lucky winners.

I love love love making stickers and making repeat patterns

A great idea for the giveaway would be something that is native to your area - fabric, pattern, etc. Hope I win!

I think you should give away fat quarters, or you should try to make the soap :)

Congrats on your 300th post! I'm all about buttons, so I'd suggestion an assortment of buttons for the giveaway.

Love surprises!! How about including something that has surprised you, maybe something you ordered over the internet that turned out wrong or different than you thought or something you've made that surprised you!
Either way inlude me please!!

Ok let's see...I really do need an apron for cooking, so maybe you could make and give away one of those! It's almost winter here in Australia (today's the last day of Autumn!) so perhaps something left over from your winter this year.
Ok, and one of my favourite things I've made this month is here:

Actually I love everything I've made this month, and haven't even blogged about most of it! lol Must remedy that...

Fabric is always nice. Or some other supply. Those soaps look yummy! Soaps shouldn't look so edible.
Thanks for your generosity!

something fun to include in the giveaway could be wool....my personal fave. ;) if you don't have any of that on hand, maybe some knitting needles or a pair of scissors. haven't seen many tools being offered out there.

I think embelishments would be fun, or put together a kit to make something.
